Fashola signs N22bn supplementary -2010

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has accented to the 2010 supplementary budget of N22 billion.
Fashola, while accenting to the bill on Monday, said he was constrained to sign the bill, which was returned twice by the state House of Assembly in the interest of the teeming Lagosians that elected him and members of his cabinet.

He said the process that led to the final passing of the bill was a plus for democracy in the state, saying the supplementary budget would help to improve the previous budget made by the administration.
Fashola commended members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, assuring that the implementation of the bill would be carried out in feverish pace before the end of the year.

The signing of the bill brings the total budget to N411,571,000,000 as against the initial N389,571,000,000.
The governor had requested for N46 billion and an additional N3 billion to offset salaries and arrears of workers in tertiary institutions. A request that was vehemently rejected by members of the state House of Assembly on what they linked to the rising debt profile of the state.

Consequently, the timely intervention of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwan Akiolu and former governor Bola Tinubu saw to the passage of the bill last week Thursday.
