Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel yesterday declared war on former President Olusegun Obasanjo of the insoluble crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
A Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, last Friday, had reserved the decision on an order ex parte motion brought before it by the Governor Daniel and others indefinitely between him and Obasanjo who is a candidate for governor and other .
Daniel, who made the public statement at the inauguration of the campaign committees held at Government House in Abeokuta, said: "We are fighting against the last battle, we have started this war since 2006, and I want to shine your eyes. " He said he had done everything humanly possible to appease the Obasanjo faction of the party in the state, yet, the camp had remained tough: "So, step the situation is now, you can not be in the river and complain of cold. "He further alleged that there was a plot calculated by the Obasanjo faction to truncate his administration." We used everything to appease them, but they are categorical and you want to use power against us. "
Daniel added that those who push Tunji Olurin for governor, knew he could not even win the election in his hometown Ilaro. "We're in a war marathon, and in this particular battle, we will fight to the logical conclusion. They even used the media for opposition to fight us, an indication that they work together with opposition parties to destroy our party and later released,''he said.
While alleging that the political war against him began in 2006 with the theft of his checks in the governor's office, which was intended to imply, Daniel also noted that a number of members of his cabinet been interviewed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), but eventually comes out clean.
"Those who steal good to me the nails, where are they now? We have been harassed and intimidated, but God was on our side. I am personally not surprised at what we are witnessing today, you should not be shocked because of what we faced.
The governor boasted that his faction would produce all the candidates to participate in elections. "I assure you that by May 29, we will be successful transit to the government of our choice,''he said.
